BiographyI am a Thursday’s child who has tried to live up to my heritage. Born on the beautiful Isle of Man, I have been fortunate to witness stirring events. I knew the Beatles in Liverpool. I moved to California in time for the Berkeley riots and to London for the Swinging Sixties and the Anti-Vietnam protests. Living in Paris and Grenoble taught me how to make a mean ratatouille and I learned the hula in Hawaii! In between, I gained two History degrees, took management qualifications and raised a family. I have worked in the Careers Service and then trained as a Life Coach. I have written all my life, for work and for pleasure but I was too self conscious to show anyone the products of my imagination. In
2007, I started to write fiction and enter writing competitions. To date, I have
won three competitions, had second places and been short listed and longlisted
in several others. My work has been published in anthologies and on the web. My
children’s book, “A Night in the Manx Museum”, was published at Easter 2008 and
is being used by local schools. “Ghost Diaries” was short listed in the 2007 Uk
Authors Opening Pages Competition when it was largely unfinished.
I
entered
three novels for the 2008 UK Authors Opening Pages Competition. All three were
short listed. Two were runners up, Ghost Diaries and the Winged Horses of Anver,
and Son of Lir won the Fantasy category of that competition. In 2010 I have
reached three shortlists and come second in the Red Telephone Publishing
competition. Son
of Lir is to be published in March 2011 and Ghost Diaries in July. |
